To that effect, a series of Archive Parties will be hosted by CDC and the Ventura Club to work on the archives and raise money for the project. All Democrats are welcome to work on the archives and anyone interested in working should call Steve Cummings at (805)-644-3286 or contacting by email at -email-. Ventura Club members elected CDC officers Misc Steve Cummings Wednesday 22 August 2007 - 01:20:01 Two Ventura Club members were elected as two of the four statewide officers of the California Democratic Council (CDC), the statewide organization of Democratic clubs. Heather Lacayo will serve as Secretary and Steve Cummings will serve as Controller for the next two years in the organization. CDC unveiled a new business plan to assist Democratic clubs around the state. CDC also plans to conduct a statewide endorsing convention for President, probably in early December. Chartered in 1952, CDC emerged as a power in California and Democratic Party politics in the 1950s, as it was the only Democratic organization that could issue endorsements as the state political parties were barred by law from doing so. It was instrumental in electing Pat Brown for governor, Claire Engle for the U.S. Senate, and taking control of the California legislature in 1958. It is still the only state-wide Democratic organization that can issue an endorsement for president. Further details will be forthcoming as to how club members can participate in this convention. As a final note, the Democratic Club of Ventura, as an affiliated club of CDC is given this web site.
